Our Story
It definitely wasn’t love at first sight for either of us because we can’t really remember the exact day we met. But Justin is positive he remembers the meeting part because my name stuck in his head, it was outside the Perrin dorm sometime during the fall of 2000. It was my freshman year and Justin’s sophomore year at Northwest and my sorority and his fraternity were paired up for Homecoming skit. So naturally I was excited to meet all these new guys and ended up being good friends with quite a few of his fraternity brothers.
We continued to run into each other at parties during the next few years while in Maryville. Justin also worked at a gas station near campus called Pit Stop that had the best ice cream in town and my roommate Alyssa and I would often walk there to grab some. Justin likes to believe that it was him, not the ice cream that had me coming into Pit Stop.
After graduating we both came back to the Omaha area and during July of 2004 we ran into each other at a 311 concert. We still had many mutual friends and exchanged numbers. Seven months later Justin finally called me and invited me out to see the John Henry band perform. I wasn’t able to go but thought I should return the invite and meet up with him. A few weeks later in March of 2005 we briefly met up with friends at Billy Frog’s but weren’t able to really talk.
I’d always thought Justin was cute, but wasn’t sure what he thought about me so I called up a good mutual friend of ours, Brandon Juon, and asked him all sorts of questions about Justin and if he thought that maybe Justin would be interested in me. So with Brandon’s help, we finally got together in April for some karaoke at Pit Stop Pizza and were able to hang out. A few weeks and many phone conversations later, we started dating!
